Biography:

Stephen Vaudrey has been in social work for over 30 years. He began his career working with street drinkers in London’s East End and then went on to work for local councils in London as a community social worker with an interest in Childcare and Mental Health. For the last 20 years he has specialised in Child Protection and managing services for children looked after by the state in residential and foster homes and their placement in adoptive families. He has practiced in both the state and independent sector.

For 10 years he ran his own social care company, an Independent Fostering Agency, providing accommodation for children and young people from inner city Londoncommunities.

In addition, Stephen has worked in Hungary and Russia on projects concerned with developing non institutional care for children and older people and with the Vietnamese community in London.

Stephen has researched background material for various publications and has produced three training films with a professional director on; fostering, teenage mothers and leaving care.

Prior to beginning his career in social care, Stephen was a research scientist in Physics.

He has Degrees in Science; a Diploma is Social Science and a Social Work qualification.

Stephen has been a school governor and a Trustee of an international charity, now chair of the East London Citizens' Advice Bureau. He is married with three children. He enjoys playing and listening to Jazz, Motorcycling and reading.
